The first thing that springs to mind for most people when you say ‘Tesco’ is ‘store’. Hardly surprising since we have 3,300 of them across the UK. Some are massive, others smaller - like our Metro and Express convenience stores. But they have many things in common from product consistency, a passion to deliver great customer service and a great opportunity for a vast career. Think you can handle it?

We have stores nationwide, so that we’re able to serve customers in almost every community.  You will experience working in one or more of these stores – across our different formats; whether that’s an out of town Extra, or a smaller high street Metro store.

Each store is unique, and faces its own daily challenges – you will be a key part of the team, and will experience a range of different jobs.  We’ll challenge you to find ways to improve our existing processes and how we can go the extra mile to give customers a shopping experience that will ensure they return to shop with us. 

In your 10 weeks, we’ll also give you the opportunity to understand how store life is impacted and relies on other critical business functions – like our world-class supply chain and distribution network that allows our stores to offer the best range and quality products.

This 10 week programme will provide you with plenty of support from your store manager, as well as some excellent on-the-job training. It's a lot to take on in a short space of time, but you’ll quickly start to understand how our retail business works and how we strive to give customers a fantastic shopping experience every time they visit.  

The programme will be demanding and to get the most out of it, you must be driven and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. You will be supported throughout the programme, but we're also looking for you to take responsible for your own development too.

During your programme you will need to:
• Identify and agree your development needs with your buddy and Manager.
• Demonstrate a passion for customer service.
• Realise the absolute necessity of personal drive.
• Drive the achievement of your objectives by asking for feedback along the way.

This is an exciting and fast paced programme, where no two days are ever the same. The programme is ideal for someone who is looking for more than an average 9-5pm job!
